A Mark of Wholesome Meat, 1964

 Item

Scope and Contents

Color - Sound - 16 mm - 00:18:30 America's housewives are familiar with the purple stamp on meat carcasses that says and means is U.S. inspected and passed for wholesomeness. This USDA stamp of approval should also be noted by consumers when buying canned and packaged meats and meat products in the supermarket. This film shows what it takes to earn the right to display the "stamp of approval" on the package. Under watchful eyes of Federal meat inspectors in stockyards and processing plants, and chemists, microbiologists, bacteriologists, and histopathologists in USDA laboratories, American and foreign meats must attain rigid standards before receiving the mark of wholesome meat.
