Series III. Writings, 1932-1982

This series includes Alexander's written works produced during his professional life. The
series contains two subseries, published and unpublished. Subseries III.A. is arranged
in chronological order by the date the publication, conference presentation or
testimony. Subseries III.B. is arranged in the order of the two parts of the work. The
original work is followed by a preservation photocopy.

Subseries III.B. contains an unpublished diary and travelogue entitled “West Africa and
the Belgian Congo: Pictures and Notes, March to June, 1951,” which is divided into two
parts. Part One covers soil sampling and evaluation conducted in Senegal, Sierra Leone,
French Guinea, Ivory Coast and Gold Coast. Part Two covers the same activity conducted
in Togo, Dahomey, Niger, Nigeria, Belgium Congo, French Equatorial Africa, and French
Cameroons. Included are the original type written pages with the original photographs as
well as a preservation photocopy of both parts.
