"D. H. Scott, who develops new peach hybrids at the U.S. Horticultural Station, starts the new season’s hybridization by removing the petals and attached pollen sacs from the unopened blossoms of a tree selected as one of the parents of a new hybrid. The pistil of one of the blossoms (at Mr. Scott’s finger tips) is ready for pollinization. When pollinated it will develop into the fruit." N-522(a) KILLIAN
