Biographical Sketch

Rupert Coles (b. 1910) was the chief poultry advisory officer for the British Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in Great Britain, from 1945 to 1970. Coles served as the president of the World's Poultry Science Association (WPSA) from 1954 to 1958. He was the acting secretary-treasurer of the WPSA from 1968 to 1970 and became secretary in 1970. He held that position until 1984.

Coles wrote a book entitled Development of the Poultry Industry in England and Wales 1945-1959 (London: Poultry World Limited, 1960). He held master's degrees in economics and agriculture, and a Doctor of Science degree.
