Biographical Sketch

Glenn A. Holroyd (1919-2009) began working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1945 at the Kansas City Regional Office of the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC), which later became the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). Holroyd started as a printer, then trained as a computer programmer when the data processing department was introduced in 1957. He became a systems analyst and later was promoted to chief of the Price Support Systems Division. His work was instrumental in establishing electronic data processing methods within the CCC and the ASCS. He retired from USDA in 1974.
