Scope and Contents

The Glenn Loren Fuller Papers contain soil science-related correspondence, reports, notes, memoranda, surveys, maps, photographs, and negatives. One box contains an extensive collection of South Carolina soil surveys organized by county from the years 1902 to 1943. The collection also contains field equipment, including Fuller’s leather satchel, canvas bag, and camera tripod, along with a selection of rock and soil samples.

Introduction

The Glenn Loren Fuller Papers document Fuller’s work as a USDA Soil Conservation Service soil scientist from 1935 to 1958. The papers include correspondence, reports, memoranda, surveys, and maps, as well as photographs, negatives, field equipment, and rock and soil samples accumulated during Fuller’s career. These materials are in fair to good condition. The collection is only minimally processed, and personally identifying information may still be present. The collection may be screened by library staff prior to use.

The materials in this collection were donated by family member Joe Fuller in 2012. Lynn Stanko rehoused and arranged the materials in 2012, and Special Collections staff member Emily Somach added description in 2018.
