Biographical Sketch

Henry F. Shepherd was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from the 1930s to 1967. He began his USDA career with the Soil Conservation Service in Ohio. Later he became the department's Director of Safety. He led an effort to put safety belts in all department vehicles in the early 1960s, for which USDA won the President's Safety Award. Shepherd retired from USDA in 1967.
