This subseries contains letters of congratulations from friends and colleagues within the USDA and from around the world. The correspondence subseries is arranged chronologically by date and there under alphabetically by last name of correspondent. The correspondence was originally housed in two leather binders with Schoening's name embossed on the front covers. This subseries contains photographs taken at Schoening's retirement party on April 21, 1955. Most of the photographs are not labeled. This subseries was originally housed in a leather binder, but for preservation purposes the photographs were removed from the binder. The original order of the photographs has been maintained. The empty notebook is stored in an oversized box.
