Biographical Sketch
Warren R. Bailey (1910-1984) joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1938 as an agricultural economist working in the Bureau of Agricultural Economics (BAE) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also served in BAE offices in Chicago, Illinois and Berkeley, California before moving to Washington, D.C. in 1952. During the 1950s, he conducted research on farming problems in the western United States. In the late 1960s, he served as acting chief of the Production Adjustments Division of the Economic Research Service (ERS). Bailey worked at USDA for 36 years, retiring in 1974 as the deputy director of the Commodity Economics Division of ERS.
