Scope and Contents Note

Walter F. Hughes' collection of documents relates to poultry breeding and poultry business in Kimber Poultry Breeding Farms, Niles, California. The collection contains 1926-1927 pedigree of individual records attained by chickens in breeding pens. A general catalog, published in 1955, describing all factors in Kimber Farms' efforts to produce a more profitable White Leghorn chicken is also included. A few issues of Kimberchik News from 1944-1955, are bound with a catalog. A single black and white photograph (ca. 1965) depicts the Kimbers and the senior staff of the organization.
