Content Description

The Clyde Dewey Mueller Papers contain correspondence, files on poultry breeding techniques, computer programs, random sample test reports published by the USDA and participating states, and a collection of brochures published by twelve poultry breeders. There are documents related to the work of national poultry organizations, such as the National Committee on Random Sample Poultry Testing and the Poultry Breeders of America. The papers also include Dr. Mueller's autobiography, which covers the period from his birth in 1918 through 1995, and provides a detailed account of family, friends, and career accomplishments.

Biographical Sketch

Clyde D. Mueller graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in poultry science. He earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University in animal husbandry. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned to Kansas State University to teach in the poultry department. He went on to work as a poultry geneticist and consultant for various U.S. and foreign breeders of chickens and turkeys.
